Laurs Kemp began designing her line of body-positive garments inspired by the Female Gaze after she moved to Portland, Oregon in 2012. The line is produced in Laurs' Portland studio, where she maintains a zero-waste policy and sources many of her materials locally. Her 2016 capsule collection, Yama Yama, is inspired by the music of the Yamasuki Singers, the 1991 arthouse film A Little Stiff, and Portland dance troupe 11 Dance Co.
"I have a thing for Portland designers, and Laurs is no exception. She thinks outside of the box and creates accessible, wearable pieces of art."
